Silver ions interrupt bacteria as they try to duplicate. So, instead of two, you get none.
Polygiene StayFresh™ is based on silver chloride, a salt that is naturally present in water and soil. The silver ions disrupt bacteria before they can multiply.
That means odour is stopped before it starts, keeping your sheets fresher for longer. It’s 100% safe for skin, including the delicate areas around the eyes.
Ionsilk™ is independently lab-tested in the UK, proven to reduce bacteria by 99.97% within 24 hours.
Advanced Lyocell fibres
Long-staple Tencel™ lyocell fibres are more expensive, but there’s good reason to pay more.
The lyocell we use in Owl + Lark sheets is specially formulated so it does not easily pill and has much greater durability than normal lyocell.
Not only that, the fabric gets softer with each wash.
Soft, but breathable
Designed for softness, breathability and comfort.
Comparable in feel to 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton, O+L’s eucalyptus fabric is 300 thread count, meaning it’s cooler and breathes better than the best cotton.
A sateen weave makes gives the fabric a smooth sheen but remains crisp to the touch.

Is breathability important?
Yes! Temperature regulation is one of the most important factors for quality sleep.
Your body needs to cool down to fall and stay asleep. Heavy, non-breathable fabrics, even high thread count ones, can trap heat and feel sticky.
That’s why O+L Ionsilk™ is woven at 300 thread count but feels as soft as 1000 thread cotton, giving you softness without sacrificing breathability.
Is Polygiene safe?
Yes. It is based on silver ion technology, recognised for centuries with no harmful effects. Polygiene is used in medical, food and water applications.
Has Ionsilk™ been tested?
Yes, repeatedly. The functionality of Polygiene StayFresh is tested to various standards such as ISO, AATCC, IBRG, JIS L and AAA. All tests are performed at independent laboratories around the world. We also undertake on-going quality control tests, environmental and wearer trials.
O+L Ionsilk fabric has been independently tested for efficacy in the UK by IMSL MICROBIOLOGICAL SERVICES LTD and shows excellent antimicrobial properties.
How long is is the antimicrobial treatment effective for?
Polygiene StayFresh™ is effective for the useful life of our sheets. And tests show that it has an odour inhibiting effect after up to 100 washes.
Does the antimicrobial treatment affect sheets in any other way?
No. You can’t see the treatment and it doesn’t change the look and feel of a treated textile.
Do we use nano-silver technology?
No. We don’t use nano-technology or pure silver due to ongoing safety concerns.
